We had a wintry weekend walk in Grove Ferry, near Canterbury, on Saturday. What the photos don't show you is that we had to abandon our walk and seek shelter in the pub after a mere ten minutes! Monkey was not a happy bunny in her wrap, and despite being well wrapped up we were all feeling the bitter biting wind. We did see lots of mole hills though!

Ah, I so sing your song on Noro yarns, the gorgeous Brittany DPNs, and the constant yarn-buying before things are finished... Just this weekend I was hankering after some Silk Garden, but, for once, I managed to resist, telling myself I must finish the witchlet's second pair of legwarmers, Quercus's hat, and my own socks before anything new enters the house...
Your queue sounds similar to mine, EW. Finish 2nd pair of legwarmers (now I've got the hang of the ole' jogless stripes technique), hat for DH (that's the Noro). Haven't attempted socks yet.
Oooh - stripes. Now that's a point - I did the first pair of legwarmers in Noro (I know - ridiculous, but still), so haven't done stripes. Is it easy?
(How apt - the word verification is 'sling'. :))
It is easy but you need to do the 'jogless' thing otherwise the stripes don't match up where the round joins.
Here are the instructions I used, it's not that tricky:
Stripes in the round:
(This only works if you have a minimum of 2 rows per stripe)
Knit 1 round of the new color.
When faced with the first stitch of the second round: pick up a loop of the first color from the preceding row and place it on the left needle. Knit together both the first stitch of the new color *and* the picked up stitch of the previous row.
Continue knitting around.
Makes it a million times neater and also joins the round. I had to post an emergency knitting query last weekend to get this sorted so I've got one rubbishy babyleg and one darned good one!
Casting on DH's hat this evening...
