About Me

My photo
I live in Kent with my husband, toddler Tilly (henceforth known as Monkey) and another baby due in November. We have two cats, Duncan and Lady Macbeth, and four chickens who kindly lay us eggs daily. We live in the picturesque seaside town of Broadstairs. I enjoy reading, knitting and cooking. I'm trying to be a bit 'greener' (not sure how successfully), and to be a gentle parent. Extended breastfeeding and co-sleeping don't freak me out, we use cloth nappies and try to follow some of the ideals of Attachment Parenting. If that sounds as if I know what I'm doing, I don't! I am also a psychotherapist with an interest in Focusing-oriented therapy, and I have a small private practice in the area.

Woah, just deleted very geeky statement! Um, what I meant to say was there is a strong resemblance there! Me and my mama and my daughter also have the genes. I've got a couple head turning pictures, too, where you're not quite sure who's who. So awesome! I was friends with my mom (because of this), and I hope that translates with my daughter, too. We'll see! She's definitely her own girl.

It's quite amazing to compare pics of ourselves at our children's age isn't it? There is sooo much of you in her, and yet so completely herself. An echo that's also unique. Beautiful photos - I feel happy looking at them.

Sweet comments guys, thanks. Mon, would you believe that second photo is her passport pic?! I did tell her that she would have to live with it for 5 years but she woldn't listen! I do see the resemblance, mainly in the hair and brown eyes, but truly she is her daddy's girl (although looking at these we both seem to have a similar shaped face).
Before I had her I couldn't imagine how she could be unique, I could only visualise a child in terms of me or DH, but as DW says, she is completely herself and that is just incredible! xx
